Description
This is a 1990s Jerry Jones Longhorn Bass6 electric guitar made in Nashville TN. It was owned by Robert Quine who played with Richard Hell & The Voidoids, Matthew Sweet, Lou Reed and many others. It’s the final of three Quine guitars we purchased shortly after Robert died. Robert was good friends with Rick Kelly at Carmine Street Guitars. Rick handled all the musical equipment sales after Robert died. It comes with multiple forms of documentation including the promotional sales badge, copy of original sales receipt, and the inventory list from Carmine Street Guitars. In addition, there’s some case-candy left by Quine
This Longhorn Bass6 features a semi-hollow, longhorn double cutaway, in a copper sunburst finish front and back, two single coil lipstick pickups, a clear plastic pickguard, two metal strap pins with Kluson Deluxe-style tuners. This guitar is 100% original and in new-old-stock condition.Description from VintageSilvertones.com
The action is fast and has an excellent range of tones with the bridge/bridge+neck/neck selector switch options. The pickups are single coils but in the middle position act as humbuckers. This amazingly gorgeous baritone guitar plays and sounds beautiful. It comes with the original hardshell case.Description from VintageSilvertones.com
CONDITION:
This guitar is 100% original and it is in excellent condition. It’s really new-old-stock with only 3-4 extremely tiny nicks. Quine must have only used this in the studio. Check the photos for the details. The hard shell case (ohsc) is in very good shape with a tiny bit of wear and the remnants of green tape-tag from Robert’s own inventory.
TUNERS:
It has six individual Kluson Deluxe-style tuners with metal buttons that are in good working condition.Description from VintageSilvertones.com
NECK:
It has a straight, bolted-on, neck with circular mother-of-pearl inlays on a rosewood fretboard, a bone or plastic nut, 24 frets, 30″ (29.75″) scale with fast action. The headstock, features a Jerry Jones Guitars logo on a copperburst finish. There’s two tiny nicks/dings. Otherwise, it’s super clean.
PICKUPS:
There are two single coil lipstick pickups. The bridge pickup is bright, raw, and trebly. The neck pickup is strong, clean, bright and warm. When the toggle is in the middle position, the pickups act as humbuckers. So they’re very clean sounding. Description from VintageSilvertones.com
