Description

This is a Wild Thing reissue, six string electric guitar made by Danelectro in China in 2011 with a black, high-gloss finish and white Tolex binding. This guitar is 100% original and is basically new-old stock. This is a rare, limited edition guitar. It is a double cutaway, masonite top and bottom with a plywood frame. The original version of the Wild Thing was a one-off and never in production at Danelectro.

The pickups and electronics are the classic Danelectro style with stacked tone and volume controls for each pickup with a three-way toggle switch to choose between neck, bridge or both pickups. In the middle position the pickups are louder and act like humbuckers. This model was a limited run and has unique pickups and tone. They’re strong and bright single coils with a chrome finish. And, these single-coils are considerably more clean sounding than most. The classic Danelectro-style bridge is adjustable for height and intonation. It comes with the original Danelectro gig bag, warranty card, hang tag, original brochure, and wrench to adjust the neck (the adjustment must be under the nut or in the neck-pocket since it’s not visible on the body.)Description from VintageSilvertones.com

CONDITION:
This guitar is 100% original but does have some scuffs on the pickguard and some ink spots on the tolex binding. The finish is super high-gloss black. It is a wild looking and playing guitar that sounds rich and full. Description from VintageSilvertones.com

TUNERS: Description from VintageSilvertones.com
The six individual Kluson-Deluxe-style, tuners have a chrome finish with off-white plastic buttons which are in very good working condition. All of the tuners are smooth and hold the pitch well.

NECK: Description from VintageSilvertones.com
The neck is a maple (presumably) wood with rosewood fretboard. The bolt-on neck is straight, with a high-gloss, black finish on the back matching the body’s finish, fret marker dots on the fretboard, an aluminum nut, 21 frets and a 25″ scale. The headstock has a Danelectro logo and the black finish matches the body’s. Overall the neck and headstock are very clean.

PICKUPS:
This guitar has two single coil lipstick tube style pickups with a 3-way toggle to switch between the neck, bridge or both pickups. They are a chrome finish, lipstick-tube Alnico-50s style pickups. The neck pickup has a clean, jazzy tone while the bridge pickup has a bright more raspy tone. The tone control on the neck pickup has some tonal range before fully muting the tone. The bridge tone control has a slight tremolo tone and gets more muted/reduced when turned down. In the middle position, the pickups act like a humbucker and are significantly louder. The tone on this guitar is louder/stronger but not as bright as an original Danelectro. This guitar is suitable for Americana, Rock, Country, Rockabilly, Surf Rock, and much more. The electronics are clean sounding and in proper working order. Description from VintageSilvertones.com
