Description

Silvertone 1375 (early U1 series) made by Danelectro of Neptune New Jersey in 1954.  It’s a solidbody electric guitar with an aluminum bar that runs from the neck through body. It has a red tolex covering on the body and a white headstock with red Lightning Bolt Silvertone logo on the headstock. It has one pickup, one volume, one tone control and a toggle switch to change the tone. The white plastic pickguard that has the electronics on it including the pickup has a few chips. (See photos). The pickup is strong and sounds great. The volume control works correctly. But, the tone control does not work. Also, it’s a bit scratchy sounding. So some small electronics work will need to be done. That’s reflected in the price. Otherwise it’s very clean but does show some wear around the body edges, a cigarette burn on the headstock, and the paint is worn off on the neck from 70+ years of playing. Photos tell the story. It appears to be all original. No case or gig bag but it will be double-boxed for shipping.Description from VintageSilvertones.com

TUNERS:
The double three-inline opened-back tuners with plastic buttons are in very good working condition. All of the tuners are smooth and hold the pitch well.Description from VintageSilvertones.com

NECK:
The neck is in good shape. It is a straight, bolted-on neck with circular aluminum inlays on a rosewood fretboard, an aluminum nut, 20 frets, and a 25″ scale. There is playing wear to the paint on the back of the neck and some very minor playing wear on the top two frets that does not affect the playability or tone of the instrument. The headstock, featuring a horizontal silkscreened Silvertone logo with a lightening bolt underneath on a white plate, has minor wear and a cigarette burn on the front along with some wear along the back top edges. The neck is kept straight and supported by an aluminum truss rod that starts at the headstock and goes all the way through the body and stops at the bridge. This rod is visible on the rear of the neck, giving the neck a flat, squared-off appearance down the center of the rear of the neck. It can also be seen on the front of the body down the center as it heads toward the bridge. With its fast action, the neck feels fantastic under your fingers.Description from VintageSilvertones.com

PICKUP:
The single coil pickup, that is tucked under the pickguard in the neck position, has a clean, smooth, strong, bright tone. This guitar has a tone and volume knob and a three position tone switch. The guitar is very versatile offering the player tones suitable for rock, blues, country, rockabilly, soul, funk, jazz and many more musical styles. The pots and switch are clean sounding/working but the tone pot/control is not working. Description from VintageSilvertones.com
