Description
This is a U2 reissue, six string electric guitar made by Danelectro in Korea circa 1998 in a purpleburst finish. It is a single cutaway, hardwood top and bottom with a plywood frame. This U2 reissue is very clean aside from one chip near the neck pocket on the body. The purpleburst is a rare color. It includes the original Danelectro gig bag which is very heavy duty and in good shape. This model was issued from 1998 to 2001.Description from VintageSilvertones.com
CONDITION:
This guitar is 100% original and it is in great condition. The finish is very clean and beautiful. There are no blemishes or wear except for one chip in the body near the neck pocket. It’s almost, new-old-stock but has some minor playing wear. The tolex binding has minor staining but it’s barely noticeable. It is a beautiful guitar that plays nicely and sounds sweet. The closed-back single, Danelectro tuners with white plastic buttons, are in very good working condition. All of the tuners are smooth and hold the pitch well.

The neck is a hard maple wood with rosewood fretboard. The bolt-on neck is straight, with a purpleburst finish on the back matching the body’s finish, circular plastic inlays on the fretboard, an aluminum nut, 21 frets and a 25″ scale. The headstock has a Danelectro logo and the purpleburst finish matches the body’s. Overall the neck and headstock are very clean.
PICKUPS:
This guitar has two single coil lipstick tube style pickups. They’re chrome-plated brass-tube Alnico-50s style pickups. The neck pickup has a clean, smooth tone while the bridge pickup has a bright more raspy tone. Each pickup becomes warmer with the tone knob turned down. This guitar is suitable for Americana, Rock, Country, Rockabilly, Surf Rock, and much more. This U2 guitar has two stacked volume and tone controls, one for each pickup and a three way toggle to switch between the neck, bridge or both pickups.
