Description
This is a well worn, circa 1962 Airline 7249 electric guitar made by Kay for Montgomery Ward. The guitar has lots of wear, nicks, dings, etc. It works correctly but the electronics probably need to be grounded. So it’s a bit of a project guitar. The pickups sound great and are very strong. The tone and volume controls gives a very nice range of tone from raw to smooth/jazzy. This Airline 7249 has a sunburst finish with lots of wear, hollow body guitar with a fully bound body, 18 fret neck, plastic nut, and 3 single-coil pickups. The logo is missing from the headstock and there are holes where it once was. It appears to be all original. It has been played extensively over the years. Gig bag. All sales final since it’s a project.Description from VintageSilvertones.com
CONDITION:
This guitar appears to be all original and in good condition. It has playing wear around the headstock, body, and neck. The action is medium and the neck is straight. It’s a project guitar. It’s really fun to play and works fine.
TUNERS:
The 3×3 Kluson Deluxe tuners with white plastic buttons, are in good working condition.Description from VintageSilvertones.com
NECK:
The neck is thick, bolted-on neck with mother-of-pearl, rectangular inlays on a rosewood fretboard, a plastic nut, 18 frets, 24 1/4″ scale with medium action. There’s lots of wear on sides of the neck and on the headstock; which has some crazing. The headstock is missing the logo and has very small holes drilled on the front and back. Presumably the holes in the front are for the logo to screw into. There’s one small hole on the back of the neck at the body; presumably someone added or moved the strap pin.Description from VintageSilvertones.com
PICKUPS:
There are three clear plastic covered, single-coil pickups, with adjustable pole pieces. The plastic is cracked on all three pickups with a small piece missing from the neck pickup. The jack is front mounted. There are seven tone/volume controls. They’re a bit hard to figure out but it seems to be tone+volume for each pickup then an overall volume control. Then there is a four-position pickup selector switch with positions for each pickup and all three together. The guitar probably needs a ground. So it’s sold as a project.
