Description
This guitar is a 1960 Danelectro 3011 “Standard”, double-cutaway, in a black finish with one pickup and a white “seal” pickguard. The finish shows its 60+ years of use with nicks, scratches, scrapes, and lots of genuine playing wear. The tone pot barely works. It’s very subtle, at best. The Short Horn Series was offered between 1958 and 1966. This guitar is 100% original and has all of the classic features: black finish with a white seal shaped pickguard on which the controls and input are mounted; double cutaway semi-hollow body with a “Solid Center” construction consisting of a masonite top and back on a pine frame; one single coil lipstick tube pickup; Coke-bottle headstock; and a two-way adjustable chrome plated brass bridge with a Brazilian rosewood saddle; white tolex binding on the body; two metal strap pins. This model is similar to and often confused with the two pickup 3021 model made famous by Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin. The guitar plays and sounds great. You can feel and hear the sweetness that ripened within it over the years. It comes with a gig bag. Grab this classic while you can. They’re become harder and harder to find.Description from VintageSilvertones.com
CONDITION:
It is in good condition and 100% original with some honest wear. The photos show the wear best but it’s worn on the body front and back, along the edges of the headstock, and has playing wear on the back of the neck.
TUNERS:
The opened back 2×3 tuners with white plastic buttons are in very good working order.Description from VintageSilvertones.com
NECK:
Bolt-on, straight neck with plastic dot inlays on a Rosewood fretboard, 21 frets, a metal nut and 25″ scale. The frets have very minor wear and the back of the neck has a few spots of finish wear but this does not affect the sound or playability of the instrument. The headstock has a lot of wear along the edges and features the vertical silkscreened logo. And the “Danelectro Totally Shielded” sticker is in good shape below the logo. The action is fast. The neck is kept straight with two metal rods.
PICKUPS:
There is one single-coil lipstick tube-style pickup which is in good working order. The pickup has some playing wear on the top where the chrome has worn off. The tone is clean and bright with some good bite; perfect for a variety of styles including blues, rock, garage rock, country, and funk. This guitar has a three way switch for instantaneous tone selection. The tone pot barely works. There’s a very subtle difference in tone when switching between the three positions on the toggle when the tone pot is turned all the way down. Description from VintageSilvertones.com
