SILVERTONE: 1454
1964

Silvertone-Harmony 1454 electric guitar 3 pickups, Bigsby tail piece chicago 1965 This is a 1964 Silvertone 1454L (date stamp inside: F-64) thinline, semihollow body, single-cutaway, redburst, electric guitar made by Harmony of Chicago. The pickups are DeArmonds (Rowe). The guitar is completely original. You can hear this guitar played on Bob Dylan's new album "Modern Times"; check out the inner sleeve of the cd cover for a photo of it in the guitarist hands.

It has a Bigsby vibrato. The body is maple. The details on this guitar are beautiful; check out the rosewood (Brazilian, presumably) supports for the pickups or the tortoise shell pick guard and plate for the pickup switches! The neck is straight. It has mother of pearl inlays in the fretboard. There is some very minor playing wear on the fretboard near the headstock (see photo for details). All the electronics work properly and it was just set up so the action is fast. It's got the usual wear for a guitar this age: very minor crazing (finish cracks) along with some playing wear near the fholes (I tried to show it in the second body photo but it's so subtle it's hard to see) and a few nicks here and there but overall it's very clean. It has a great tonal range between the three pickups and all the possible combinations. Each pickup has it's own on/off switch so there a nice range of sounds: rock, country, punk, jazz, etc. It comes with a lightweight hard shell case and will be packed extremely well.
