Circa 1967
This is a rare, Gospel guitar made circa 1967 by Mosrite in California, USA. It is a beautiful, symmetrical, double cutaway, fully bound, hollow body instrument. The features include a natural blond finish, a maple body, two single coil pickups, two bound f-holes, an adjustable metal bridge with individually adjustable saddles, a die cast Mosrite tremolo tailpiece, two metal strap pins, a tortoise shell pickguard and another tortoise shell gaurd plate on which all of the electronics, except for the pickups, are mounted. This guitar comes with the original hardshell case. Mosrite guitars were first established in 1952 after Semi Moseley left Rickenbacker and joined Ray Boatwright. They merged their last names to create the name Mosrite. The Gospel model guitar begain to appear in catalogs in late 1967. When Semie Moseley lost the Mosrite name, he began making guitars under the Gospel name. This guitar is a beautiful find that you do not want to miss. Get your hands on this piece of guitar history. Thin, straight, bolt-on neck, with 22 of the infamous, very low, Mosrite "speed frets" plus a zero fret on a Rosewood fingerboard and a 24.75" scale. The frets are marked by two small dot inlays per marked fret except for the twelfth fret which has three tiny dots. The first few frets have some wear, but that does not effect the tone or playability of the instrument. The golden brown tinted, headstock, featuring a cross and "Gospel Guitar" silkscreened logos, has some slight wear on the edges and one spot on the front. The neck is kept straight with an adjustable truss rod and the action is fast.PICKUPS:Description from VintageSilvertones.com
The two single coil pickups are in good working condition. The neck pickup has a clean, clear, warm bell-like, jazzy tone while the bridge has a crispier, treblier, smooth tone. This guitar is good for a myriad of styles, including, of course, gospel, jazz, rock, funk, blues, and country. This Mosrite has silver, "M" stamped, hat-type volume and tone knobs marked with "T" and "V" indicators along with the numbers 1-5 on the base of the knob. Each pickup shares one volume and one tone pot. It also has a three-way toggle to select the neck, bridge or both pickups. All electronics work properly. Description from VintageSilvertones.com
