DANELECTRO HAND VIBRATO 4021
circa 1964

Danelectro Hand Vibrato 4021, semi-hollow body, electric guitar with 2 pickups in black circa 1964 This is a Danelectro Hand Vibrato model 4021, double-cutaway, electric guitar, circa 1964. It has a black finish with two pickups. The neck is straight and all the electronics work properly. This is a really nice playing Danelectro guitar which will be appreciated by both players and collectors. This guitar is identical to the 3021 Jimmy Page played in the live Led Zep shows with the exception of the vibrato and the "batwing" headstock. It includes a gig bag. (Note: guitar is for sale locally at Carmine Street Guitars in Manhattan. Email for directions.)Description from VintageSilvertones.com

CONDITION:
Very clean, 8 out of 10, 100% original (except vibrato arm is missing), finish has the usual nicks and minor dings for a forty year old guitar. The bridge has some pitting. White tolex binding in good shape. The pickguard is warped just slightly so it's lifted up on one side.

TUNERS:
2 x 2 open back with plastic keys, all original, in good working order.

NECK:
Batwing headstock, Bolt-on, straight, dot inlays on rosewood fretboard, 21 frets, and 25" scale. Frets are in good condition. The back of the neck has very minor playing wear. The back of the headstock has small gouge below the strap button but it does not go all the way the through the wood.

PICKUPS:
2 Lipstick pickups - strong and good working order. The neck pickup is full and smooth sounding. The bridge is more twangy. Both together sound best because they're nice and bright. The stacked volume and tone controls for each pickup are both in proper working order. Toggle switch works but is a little finicky but the volume controls can be used to compensate. The pickups also have minor cracks which is very common in the lipstick shells but does not affect the sound or functionality.

The Dimensions are:
    Overall length: 39"
    Body width: 13 1/4"
    Body thickness: 1 5/8" (with neck: 1 3/4")
    Scale: 24 7/8" (25" approx)
Width of the nut: 1 5/8"
String height at 12th fret: 1/16"

Here's the original description from the 1964 Danelectro catalog:
