SILVERTONE 1479
made in 1967 - HARMONY

Silvertone -Harmony-made - 1479 solid body electric guitar with 1750 whammy bar, double cutaway 2 pu, tobaccoburst circa 1967 This is a solid body, double cutaway, double pickup, tobaccoburst Silvertone made by Harmony of Chicago in 1967. The guitar's body shape is similar to that of a Fender Jaguar. This guitar features two gold DeArmond pickups, a white pickguard on which all of the electronics are mounted, an adjustable metal, roller-style bridge, two white plastic strap pins, and a 1750 style tremolo tailpiece. This 1479 has some wear that one would expect from a guitar that is about fifty years old but it is 100% original and in good condition. As a matter of fact, the wear gives the guitar that hip, used look that some desire and even attempt to recreate artificially. This beauty is the real deal. With its great medium-fast action and terrific tone, this guitar plays like a dream. It includes the original hardshell case and original gigbag. CONDITION:
This guitar is 100% original and it is in good condition and for its age. There is some wear to the finish on the front, sides and back as you can see in the image below. There is also some pitting on the bridge, whammy bar and tailpiece. Like Keith Richards, this guitar has had a long rock and roll history; however, it is still beautiful after approximately fifty years. It plays wonderfully and sounds great!

TUNERS:
The tuners, opened-back, 6 inline with plastic buttons are in very good working condition. The peg for the first string is slightly bent but it still works very well. All of the tuners are smooth and hold the pitch well.

NECK:
The neck is in good shape. It is a straight, bolted-on, neck with circular mother-of-pearl inlays on an ebonized fretboard, 20 frets, and a 24" scale. There is some wear on the back, particularly near the top of neck. The top few frets have taken on some minor playing wear. This does not affect the playability or tone of the instrument. The headstock, featuring a vertical silkscreened Silvertone logo, has some wear along the edges. The neck is kept straight with dual steel reinforcement rods. With its medium-fast action, the neck feels fanstastic under your fingers. This guitar is suitable for slide playing as well as regular fretted play.

PICKUPS:
The two gold colored single coil, DeArmonds are very clean, strong and full sounding. The bridge pickup has a clear, potent, edgy tone. Perfect for rock, blues, soul, funk, country, folk or bluegrass, it has a twangy treble that maintains its full hefty sound. The neck pickup is significantly weaker than the bridge pickup although it is very clean and round sounding. Also, the tone pot for the neck pickup controls the volume too, it appears. Using the combination of pickups and tone knobs gives you a wide variety of musical tones from which to choose. There are four black, plastic knobs. Each pickup has a tone and volume control. The toggle switch allows you to select the neck, bridge or both pickups. The pots and toggle are clean sounding and in fine working order.
