Silvertone 1420L - Harmony Stratotone - 2 pickup, black hollow body electric guitar made in Chicago IL USA circa 1961 This is an early 1960's Silvertone model 1420L electric guitar made by Harmony of Chicago IL USA. It is part of Harmony's Stratotone line. The finish is black with a single-cutaway body style similar to a Les Paul. There's some minor playing wear and a bit of buckle-rash on the back of the body. Overall, the guitar is very clean and in great shape. The neck is straight and everything works properly. It's a very lightweight guitars. It is completely original and includes the original case and amp cord.Description from VintageSilvertones.com

GENERAL INFO/CONDITION:
This Silvertone 1420/Stratotone is in very nice condition throughout. The only issues are minor and cosmetic: a very small amount of paint wear on the top edge of the headstock, some scratches on the back from a buckle, and just general wear. The bridge is adjustable. Chrome tailpiece and pickups. The body is fully bound. The original, two-tone (grey with black binding and blue interior) hard shell case is in very good condition except the inner pocket lid has come loose. The case measures 40" x 14.5" 3.5"

NECK:
The neck is straight with 20 frets in very good condition. It is pretty thick: "baseball bat"-style. It has dot inlays in the fretboard. The fretboard wood looks like Ebony. There is some minor playing wear on the back of the neck. Also, one small ding that does not affect playing. The action is set medium-fast. The tuners are in proper working condition. The D tuner is slightly bent but functions correctly. The Silvertone logo is painted or screened on. It has a plastic nut.

ELECTRONICS:
All the electronics work properly. The pickups are strong, single coils. The neck pickup is strong, clean and slightly bright. The bridge pickup is strong, clear and somewhat twangy. Both pickups together are loudest. Each pickup has it's own volume and tone controls. The slider switch works properly selecting between the bridge, neck or both pickups.
