BURNS-BALDWIN: MODEL 706V
1968

BURNS-BALDWIN: Model 706V ES-335 style semi-hollow body This a beautiful Burns-Baldwin model 706V double-cutaway, thinline, semi-hollow body, electric guitar and includes the original Baldwin hard shell case. It's in very good condition and sounds amazing. It has a few nicks and wear here and there and there's finish cracks around the input jack. One small thing to note is there's a small chip on the very end of the whammy bar in the white plastic. All the electronics work perfectly and the neck is straight.

This is an Italian made guitar. It's serial number 04xx (last 2 digits removed) so it's an early edition of this model presumably 1968. These guitar were made from 1967 - 1970. The main parts were made in Italy and assembled at the Baldwin factory in Fayetteville, Arkansas. A Burns neck was added at the US factory with the signature scroll-top headstock. It's possible other components were made by Burns or Baldwin directly but this appears to be largely Italian made parts including the pick-ups. The pickups are "Bar Type" humbuckers with adjustable screw poles and a Baldwin logo stamped on them. It has an adjustable roller bridget, Bigsby-like vibrato with string rollers.

The Baldwin 700 series guitars were a budget oriented line that included this 706V, a 706 with a trapeze tailpiece and die-cut "B" (no whammy), a 12 string called 712 (and 712T with a thinner neck), and a 704 bass. The guitars came in Cherry Red and Sunburst colors.
